I was browsing through YouTube.com and I came across a profile for someone named Draft Warrior. This person, I am not sure of their credentials or their experience with the NFL draft, but I thought it was pretty cool. Draft Warrior updates their video big board all year long. Draft Shake Up
New head coach Mike Shanahan and the Washington Redskins are shaking up the draft. The Redskins hold the 4th pick in the draft this year and were expected to take a quarterback with the 4th overall pick to usher in the new regime in the Nation's Capital. However, the Redskins recently traded for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, the Redskins reportedly offered disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth in the trade but were rejected because of the mammoth price tag that accompanies the mammoth defensive tackle. Both the move and the attempted move by the Redskins really put the Detroit Lions in a tough spot. The Lions hold the number two overall pick in the draft and were looking to trade down with a team that was looking to draft a quarterback before the Redskins could. However, now that the Redskins have a pro bowl caliber quarterback leading their offense next season they will not be looking at a quarterback and teams will not have to look to jump the Redskins to get a quarterback. Also there was a slim possibility that a team could also trade up to get defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. However, with Albert Haynesworth supposedly on the market teams can get a powerful tackle without having to give up draft picks.
As it looks right now with the Rams releasing quarterback Marc Bulger, Sam Bradford will be the number one pick in this years draft allowing the Detroit Lions their pick of the four players I just spotlighted in the last 4 blogs. But still their best bet would be Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh because he can solidify a front 7 that didn't play as a cohesive unit all last season. Suh could cause a lot of disruption in the middle and allow the edge rushers for the Lions to get pressure on the quarterback.

Gerald McCoy
Gerald McCoy is a very distinct possibility if the St. Louis Rams select Ndamukong Suh with the first overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. McCoy went to high school at Southeast High School. In both his junior and senior years McCoy sacked the quarterback 20 times each season. These 40 sacks allowed McCoy to be the top rated defensive tackle in the 2006 class as well as the 2005 National Defensive Player of the Year just to name a few of his honors. McCoy stayed in state and went to Oklahoma University. After being redshirted in 2006 McCoy was named the 2007 freshman of the year. In his 3 year college career McCoy had 33 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks. During his junior season MCoy broke the record for most consecutive starts by a defensive lineman with 38 starts. Eric Berry
For those who have not followed, I am going through the four mostly likely candidates for the Detroit Lions to draft. The order that I am doing these does have relevance. The first player I featured, Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, is the most likely to go to the Lions with the second overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. Next I highlighted Oklahoma State’s stand out offensive tackle, Russell Okung. I will now focus in on the best player in the draft but still quite a long shot. The player is Tennessee safety Eric “The Fifth Dimension” Berry. Berry is a ball-hawking safety who is already being compared to Ed Reed. It was tough to scrounge up some highlights of Berry playing defensive back in high school because he was a two way player who also played quarterback. Berry is a lightning quick player who also ran track, the final leg of the 4x400. Here are two videos for Berry, the first is the only video I could find of him actually making tackles in High School, the other shows the top defensive back recruit in the country in 2006 and the third overall recruit, playing quarterback, or actually just running by everyone. Russell Okung
Last time we looked at Ndamukong Suh, a possible second overall pick for the Detroit Lions. This time we will look at Russell Okung, the offensive tackle from Oklahoma State. Standing at 6'5 and 307 pounds Okung is the top offensive tackle in a deep draft class this year. Here is a scouting video of Okung when he played at George Bush High School.
Coming out of high school Okung was recruited to play at LSU, Oklahoma and Nebraska but decided to pancake defensive lineman at Oklahoma State University. Ndamukong Suh
Over the next few days lets take a look at four possible draft picks the Detroit Lions could make with the number two pick in this years NFL Draft.
We will start with Nebraska defensive tackle, the top player in this years draft.
In high school Suh was a dominant force despite only being a 4 star recruit and the number 6 ranked defensive tackle in the 2005 class according to Rivals.com. In high school Suh was a two-way player who played defensive and offensive tackles and recorded 65 tackles with 10 sacks as a senior.
Through his years at Nebraska, Suh increased his ability each year. He got faster, stronger and smarter and accumulated 212 tackles and 23 sacks in his time as a Corn Husker. Suh showed utter dominance in the Big 12 Championship game this season. Recording 11 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks on quarterback Colt McCoy.
Ndamukong Suh is the most disruptive player to come to the NFL in a long time. It would be really exciting to see such a force wearing honolulu blue and silver next year.

Combine Rise or Fall
The combine is over and free agency has started. Whether we like it or not the combine is held in the highest regard when it comes to scouts. A player can have a good college career but a poor combine and his college career is forgotten for a while. Its time to look back at who helped their draft stockand whose draft stock fell. We will start by looking at the players that had a poor combine and who really hurt their draft stock. Jonathan Dwyer, the Georgia Tech running back, did not show a great quickness and had trouble catching passes out of the backfield. Dwyer also ran 4.6 40 yard dash time which really hurt. Dwyer is looking at being drafted in the second or third rounds of the draft. Florida cornerback Joe Haden also did not have a good combine. Haden ran a 4.57 40 yard dash time. Sadly the 40 yard dash is held in high regard and a poor 40 time at the combine hurts your draft stock. Without a great showing at his pro day, it looks like Haden is going to possibly drop out of the top 10.
There are 3 players that really helped their draft stock a lot. The first is the relatively unknown tight end out of Pittsburgh, Dorin Dickerson. Coming into the combine Dickerson was projected as a day 3 pick. At the combine Dickerson out ran all the tight ends and even most of the running backs and wide receivers. Dickerson showed awesome athleticism. If Dickerson would have come out of a championship contender team he would probably be the number one tight end off the board. As it stands right now Dickerson is a lock for a day 2 appearance. The second player that helped their draft stock is University of Southern California safety Taylor Mays. At last years draft Mays was projected as a top 5 pick, he decided to stay and finish his career at USC. Mays had a very poor year and after a bad senior bowl. Before the combine Taylor Mays was looking as a round two pick. However, after much controversy at the combine Mays has emerged again as a first round pick. Mays was clocked at a variance of times from 4.19 to 4.24 but when it was time for the official run Mays was recorded at 4.43, which was still the fastest time of all defensive backs. The controversy just continued for Mays. Mays then ran against Clemson wide receiver Jacoby Ford, who ran the fastest combine time of a 4.28, and was step for step until Mays beat Ford. Nevertheless Mays showed a great athleticism and a passion for the game which should put Mays back into the first round. The final player that really helped their draft stock was Maryland Offensive Tackle Bruce Campbell. On film Campbell still has a lot to learn but he is a physical freak who has a lot of potential. Campbell showed that at the combine this year. Campbell showed that he is one of the most athletic offensive tackles to ever enter the NFL. Campbell wowed everyone at the combine when he ran a 4.85 40 time, a sub 5 time for an offensive tackle is virtually unheard of. With such a great combine look for Bruce Campbell to be wearing black and silver next year after he is drafted number 8 by the Oakland Raiders.
